Many Americans Misunderstand Credit Scores According to New National Survey; CFA and Fair Isaac Make Available Free Brochure Through Federal Citizen Information Center WASHINGTON & MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2005--According to a new survey by the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) and Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE:FIC), developer of the FICO(R) credit score used by most lenders to evaluate consumer credit risk, almost one-half of American consumers do not understand key facts about credit scores: -- 49% do not understand that credit scores measure credit risk; -- 45% incorrectly think that increasing one's income will increase one's credit score.
